Curriculum
Covering broadly the National Curriculum, we provide an ambitious curriculum which is firmly rooted in our R.A.I.S.E values of Respect, Acceptance, Inclusion, Support and Empowerment. It is broad and balanced and ensures all pupils learn linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human and social, physical and aesthetic and creative education, in accordance with 2(2)(a) of the Independent School Standards. At ABS, we recognise and value every pupil as an individual, creating learning experiences that are accessible, meaningful and responsive to their needs – our brilliant teachers skilfully design and craft learning activities that engage pupils' interests and meet their needs.
Learning Plans
Every pupil is unique, and so is their learning journey. We create personalised learning plans that inspire, challenge and support every pupil to Achieve Beyond what they ever imagined possible. Learning plans are carefully planned by our teachers and are shared and reviewed with both pupils and families throughout the year, informing part of pupils' EHCP annual review meetings. The curriculum also ensures dedicated learning time for learning plans to be implemented on a weekly basis.
Teaching and Learning Expectations
Our teaching and learning expectations form the foundation for all provision and support, removing barriers to learning for our pupils with SEND. These includes strategies, resources and adaptations to the curriculum, environments and communication, and supportive and adaptive sensory and physical needs that some pupils may have.
